After a slow start to the winter, Africa’s east coast came to life. With a two-metre swell in the water and a windless day on offer, we headed down the coast in search of empty rights. We found exactly what we were looking for – empty perfection. Barrels, turns, slabby-takeoffs and crystal-clear water were the order of the day.
We soaked up the dreamy conditions, grateful to surf incredible waves all alone. Dolphin’s and a warm sun kept us happy in between sets. We managed to hunt down a few slabs off the take-off before linking sections through the inside. It was an epic day trading all-time surf with friends.
We often talk about our home and our unique surf experience. There are few places in the world where a short, 1-hour jaunt down the coast is all it takes to find empty point-breaks – great waves are an essential element of the best surf trip in Africa, and we're lucky to have an abundance of them!
