Midlands

Situated two hours inland from the coast, the Midlands is known for its green pastures, golf courses, and boutique restaurants and eateries. The area, made famous by the midlands meander — a self-drive arts, crafts, eateries and farm-stay route — is littered with dams, waterfalls, natural forests and rolling hills. Carefully created to compliment the natural landscape lie two of the province's best golf courses, Bosch Hoek and Gowrie. If golf doesn’t tickle your fancy, the Drakensberg — the largest mountain range in South Africa — is only an hour's drive away. The area is a haven for hikers and wildlife enthusiasts who take full advantage of the many well demarcated hiking paths.  This is why we believe that the midlands and its surrounds present the perfect opportunity to explore and enjoy the country's magnificent landscape.

The House

Kwa-Heri, a farm five minutes from Bosch Hoek Golf course, once operated as a dairy. Now, it is home to horses, friendly staff members and a herd of Nguni cattle — a breed famous for their multicoloured hides and indigenous to the country. The farm also lays claim to a dam, natural forest and green pastures — everything you need to be at ease in the countryside.

The Cape-dutch style house, built in the 1960’s as a boarding school, is a beautiful relic from the past century. Fitted with White limestone walls, a red-carpet staircase, and enchanting sitting areas, the interior has a magical feel, while the Garden, brimming with hydrangeas and grand old trees exemplifies the area’s beauty.
